Saggy Brows – Non-Surgical Brow Lift Solutions

When our brows appear lower than they should be, this condition is called saggy brows or brow ptosis. As a result of the upper eyelid being lower than it should, the droopy eyelids can disrupt one’s vision and even make them appear exhausted. This droopiness of the eyelids and eyebrows is usually a result of aging. However, a surgical brow lift isn’t the only way to tighten the brow area. If the risks and high cost of a surgical one is too much to commit to, the option of a non-surgical brow lift is always available. Keep reading to find out all the techniques of a non-surgical brow lift to fix saggy brows.

👁️ 1. What Causes Saggy Brows?

Sagging in the brow area is a significant reason for facial aging. There is no single cause for this anatomical weakness; rather, it is a combination of several factors. The key factors responsible for brow sagging include:

Aging is a well-documented cause for sagging in the bow area. A gradual decrease in collagen and elastin leads to the loss of skin firmness and elasticity.

Genetics

Some people have genetically hooded eyes and heavy-set brows. Additionally, these facial features become more pronounced as a person ages and manifest as saggy brows.

UV-damage

Sun damage is a common cause of skin damage, pigmentation, and sagging of the facial skin in general. UV rays exacerbate the loss of collagen and elastin and accelerate the laxity and sagging of skin in the brow area.

Loss of Facial Volume

Loss of fat and tissue around the forehead and eyes due to age also leads to a sunken appearance of the ocular area. Age-related loss of facial volume is a frequent cause of saggy brows.

Gravity And Lifestyle

The constant downward pull of gravity and poor lifestyle choices (smoking, bad diet, lack of skincare) aggravate the loss of laxity in the brow area.

Health Conditions

Health issues like lid ptosis or Bell’s palsy may indirectly affect the skin and muscles in the brow area and lead to a sagging appearance.

💉 2. How to Lift Eyebrows Without Surgery?

Brow sagging can be alleviated by surgical as well as non-surgical means. The top non-surgical brow lift treatment options include:

A. Botox for Brow Lift

Botox is a neurotoxin (Nerve toxin). It is a purified form of Botulinum Toxin A. When injected in the muscle, it has a temporary paralyzing effect by blocking the nerve signals to it. Botox alleviates wrinkles by relaxing and smoothing the muscles.

Botox is superficially injected into the brow muscles (Corrugator, procerus, Orbicularis Oculi). These muscles are responsible for the frown lines and the downward pull of the brows. Relaxing these muscles causes a reciprocal increase in the action of the Frontalis muscle that is responsible for pulling the brows upwards.

The results of a Botox brow lift typically last for approximately 4 to 6 months, depending on the individual’s overall muscle strength and other factors. Repeat injections are a requirement once asymmetry becomes noticeable.

B. PDO Thread Lift (PDF Threads for Eyebrows)

PDO stands for Polydioxanone. These are dissolvable sutures that are used to lift and reposition the sagging brow tissue. Thread lift materials also include Polylactic acid(PLA) and Polycaprolactone (PCL). These absorbable threads provide mechanical lift to the brow tissue, trigger new collagen production, and create a very natural brow aesthetic.

Thread lifts may last 12 to 24 months, depending on the type of suture material, patient health status, and skin quality. Maintenance or re-treatment may be required after this period.

C. Dermal Fillers for Brow Lift

Dermal fillers are also a great way to support the brows and give them the lift they need to appear refreshed. These types of eyebrow lift treatments involve the use of hyaluronic acid injections into the tissue to volumize the brow area. It restores the plumpness and lift in that area that usually diminishes with age.

Moreover, the results acquired with dermal fillers are instant. There is always some swelling, but that subsides as time passes and the results gradually become more apparent.

🔴 Typically, a brow lift with dermal fillers only requires one session, but a consultation is essential for the doctor to assess your face and learn about your goals for this treatment.

D. Ultherapy

Ultherapy is effective for treating saggy brows as it employs ultrasound energy to trigger collagen production in the skin. The accelerated collagen production due to the focused ultrasound energy tightens the skin and lifts the area. The results for this treatment appear gradually over 3-4 months, with early results becoming apparent only by week 6.

Since this procedure is non-surgical, the results are also temporary as they only last about a year.

E. Radiofrequency (RF) Treatments

Radiofrequency treatment involves the use of an electromagnetic device. This device generates low-level electromagnetic waves that target the deep layers of the skin and create heat to boost skin cell regeneration. This also leads to boosted elastin and collagen production, which inevitably makes the skin tighter.

Unlike the surgical alternative, the radiofrequency treatments only give a subtle lift, which makes them ideal for mild brow sagging. They can smooth the skin by eliminating wrinkles and even improving its firmness.

Furthermore, the process is entirely pain-free, involving only slight discomfort. To add to this, the results for this treatment are also gradual as the collagen restores and improves the appearance of the skin.

✨ Real Success Stories, Real Results: Stunning Facial Transformation – Forehead Reduction Surgery and & Eyebrow Lift

The patient came to our clinic with the concern that her forehead was too tall and desired to shorten it to enhance the symmetry and proportions of her face. She underwent a forehead reduction surgery with Dr. Cengizhan Ekizceli.

In addition, she also underwent a brow lift to make her eyelids more lifted and improve the appearance of her deep eyelid creases.

Let’s look at the details of her surgery.

Before the Surgery

  • The main reason the patient wanted to undergo a forehead reduction surgery was that her hairline sat very high, which made the upper face region look longer than the rest of her face.
  • By opting for this surgery, the patient aimed to achieve facial rejuvenation by lowering her hairline and creating a shorter, much more youthful-looking forehead.
  • Her disproportionately tall forehead took away the softness of her features.
  • Another advantage of advancing her hairline is that it could bring more harmony to her features, elevating her facial aesthetics.
  • To add to this, the patient also wanted her eyebrows to be more elevated and her eyelids to have significantly less drooping. This is why our surgeon performed a browlift on her as well.

After the Surgery

  • The forehead reduction surgery made the biggest difference, as it shortened the length of her upper face
  • Her forehead length has reduced, which now makes her face look softer and more feminine.
  • The surgery reduced her forehead height by 2.5 cm and made it more proportionate to the rest of her face.
  • In addition, the procedure left no visible scarring as her incision was made behind the hairline.
  • Her forehead has shortened, which naturally makes her look younger and more rejuvenated
  • On the other hand, the browlift has drastically reduced the sagging in her brow area and has given her eyebrows a more arched look.

It also resulted in making her eyes look more open, which makes her overall look well-rested and fresh.
